Absa Mauritius is proud to announce that it has received the “Employee Engagement/Involvement Award” at the Inclusive Development Guidelines Recognition Event, organised by Business Mauritius on Friday 13 September 2024. This award recognises companies that excel in supporting volunteering and encouraging employees to dedicate time (four hours or more) to social initiatives.
Absa Mauritius was particularly recognised for its Employee Volunteering Programme, established over ten years ago. This programme encourages every employee to dedicate one day a year to do volunteering and supports initiatives focused on environmental protection, education, skills development, and diversity and inclusion.
Through this annual initiative, Absa Mauritius collaborates closely with charitable organisations and NGOs to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of its efforts. In 2023, the Employee Volunteering Programme impacted over 900 beneficiaries across 18 NGOs, with participation from 440 colleagues. Some key initiatives from last year included a “blind trekking” event with visually impaired members of the Global Rainbow Foundation, mangrove cleaning in Mahebourg with Eco Sud, and the creation of the 'Ti Ravann' music school in collaboration with the NGO Faith.
“Receiving this award is a great honor and a testament to our commitment to being an active force for good within the community. Our Employee Volunteering Programme is more than just an initiative; it is an integral part of our culture and values. For us, every contribution counts in building a more united community. We hope to inspire other organisations to adopt initiatives that have a positive impact on society,” said Cedrine Chimon Rampal, Corporate Social Responsibility at Absa Mauritius
